The Alexander Technique is a practical technique for letting go of excess tension in movement:

The Alexander Technique teaches the pupil not just how to use themselves more efficiently and eliminate excess tension in posture, movement, and thinking, but also gives them skills they can employ throughout their lives.  The Alexander Technique student learns skills which apply to any and all aspects of living.

Students execute simple actions such as getting in and out of a chair and lying on a table as the teacher uses her hands to give the student a new experience of use - one with less tension, more freedom, and ultimately better functioning.

The Alexander Technique was developed by F.M. Alexander in late 19th century Australia. F.M. was an actor who discovered that his vocal problems were caused by the way he used himself. His technique stemmed from his successful efforts to change his habits. He taught the Technique in England from before World War I and later in the U.S. and England. Today the Alexander Technique is taught all over the world.

Study of the Alexander Technique is not limited to performers. Anyone can learn and benefit from the skills taught by F.M. Alexander.

Christine is certified as an Alexander Technique teacher by the American Society for the Alexander Technique and received her training at the Saint Louis Center for the Alexander Technique.

Christine is available to teach private lessons and small group classes.
